10 Weekend Offerings

Energetic Anatomy and the Subtle Body with Amy Sullivan

Jan 20-22, 2017

This workshop will introduce you or deepen your knowledge into the Subtle Body; a system consisting of 3 Yogic Bodies, 5 Elements, 5 Mayas, 5 Vayus, 7 Chakras, 3 Main Bandhas and 72,000 Nadis all of which Prana, vital energy, flows through out bodies. The more subtle the practice, the more potent, as we can access our vital energy more directly.  Working with this energetic map as our guide, we can integrate it into the anatomical directions and functions of the body to inform our teaching and our practice.

  • We'll utilize the mayas, energetic layers, to educate the integration of the physical body with the energetic body.

  • We'll use bandhas, energy locks, to tone, support and get a deeper understanding of utilizing our core in our practice and the relationship it has on the physical body using sound as well as pranayama, breathing.

  • We'll use the vayus, energetic pathways, to give us a new perspectice on asana, the physical practice, and how we use our knowledge to embody the shapes we are making.

  • We’ll utilize the chakras, or energetic vortexes, to integrate our energy as it relates to emotions and our relationship to our power.

The goal is to make the more esoteric elements of yoga and bring them to life in a tangible and practical way.

The Art of Assisting with Amy Sullivan

Feb 10-12 2017

This workshop will introduce you or deepen your knowledge into the Art of Assisting.  To be able to offer touch someone in a yoga practice is a gift and an art. To know how to give and receive energy through your hands takes time, knowledge, practice, a good teacher, learning how to be a good listener and learning our role as a service provider. Seva, selfless service, is an inherent quality of assisting.

We will explore the many facets of assisting by learning:

  • To find the balance between giving and receiving

  • How to support students with confidence

  • Stable, supportive, mindful adjustments directly affecting Prana

  • Subtle body pathways and how they can, not only help you instruct with verbal cues, but will also guide you as to where you place your hands and assist in the directing of Prana. .

  • To explore what we communicate in our touch and body language.

  • Learn to assist with a mindful and compassionate touch and create a more trusting connection between you and your students.

The goal of this workshop is to learn how to supporting others as they navigate their bodies, minds, hearts and emotions on and off the mat on their journey of healing and transformation through the practice of yoga.
