TUES THURS SUN: 4 pm PST Restorative + Nidra
SUBTLE BODY RESTORATIVE AND YOGA NIDRA
Restorative Yoga increases vitality by releasing stored tension in the body and by using the breath as tool to quiet the mind and to calm the nervous system. Instead of actively stretching your muscles, poses are held using props, for longer durations, to support your weight that allows your muscles to release and your mind to enter into a state of deep relaxation. Studies have shown that deep relaxation affects us on a genetic level and has profound health benefits. When this happens, the rest/digest part of our nervous system is activated where we reduce stress hormones, slow our heart rate and blood pressure and relieve fatigue and anxiety symptoms. This deep relaxation and inward attention is known in the yoga sutras as pratyahara, a conscious withdrawal from the senses. Ending with yoga nidra, a body scan meditation for the ultimate deep reset, the body, mind and energy returns back to its natural state where we rest in our true selves.
